Dr. Stephen Shore was diagnosed with "Atypical Development and strong autistic tendencies", was recommended for institutionalization as a young child, and was nonverbal until age four. With support from numerous people, Dr. Shore is now a professor of special education at Adelphi University where his research focuses on matching best practice to the needs of people with autism.
Dr. Shore will be giving a six hour presentation on the following topics:
-His autobiography
-3 A's of Autism: Awareness to Acceptance to Appreciation
-Developing an Understanding of the Hidden Curriculum for Learners with High Functioning Autism and Asperger Syndrome
The conference will be held at Lake City High School on November 11th from 9am-4pm, with a one hour lunch break at 12pm.
